Why am I heading off this post with such trepidation? Well, quite frankly, people tend to have a love–hate relationship with EarnHoney.com.

I like EH. I’ll admit, at first, I didn’t “get it” because I couldn’t get the viewability circles to turn red or green, but I like this site. A lot. So — they have growing pains. With our feedback, they are growing their site while trying to get more advertisers, and dealing with flash being phased out. I am willing to hang with them. I think they have a hell of a lot on their plates right now. They want to make money just as much as we do. Some feel as though they are being “scammed.” No. I don’t think so. Scammers usually don’t put so much time and effort forth, much less ask for feedback. Just saying. 🙂

Anyway… EarnHoney.com operates a rewards network which offers multiple ways to earn virtual currency called HoneyDollar$. You can cash out for PayPal, Amazon gift cards or donate to charity. The big draw to EarnHoney is that they offer “passive” video watching. On-line earners love to add passive activities to expand their earnings while doing surveys, mTurk or while just browsing the “interweb.”

On EarnHoney, there is no hard and set rule on device limit, but the rule of thumb is — if you can’t see it, the brands shouldn’t have to pay for it. EarnHoney has never and does not approve of any “unattended passive video watching”. However, it is possible for 1 person to look at more than 1 monitor/screen/tab. Security guards frequently have 20+ screens they are monitoring. 

The “HoneyDollar$” they tell you that you can earn per hour is an estimate, and it changes based on desirability to advertisers (what cookies you have, where you have visited, how many times you have seen the same ads, etc.). Each EarnHoney partner chooses their own payout scheme — this is why it changes all the time. So — the HD (HoneyDollar$) touted that you can earn per hour is only a reference number due to viewability, location, machine speed, cookies present etc.

You WILL earn. As long as:

1. You have NO ad block going on
2. Are from the United States
3. Are logged in. Yes. Check occasionally to make sure you are still logged in.
4. See “viewability circles” and that they are turning color (either red or green).

In order to ensure you get the best results with EarnHoney TV be sure that:

• Flash 10.0+ later Installed
• Your computer has at least 1Mbps bandwidth (less then this can cause buffering or no video to occur)
• Your computer has more than 2Gb+ of RAM
• Any browser crashing could be to insufficient computer resources to play high quality video

Try their surveys. They are usually easy and quickly tell you if you don’t qualify. You get 3 consolation prizes per day — which is when they award you 1 HD for attempting, but not qualifying for, a survey. You get 3 a day. If you successfully take a survey, your consolation prizes start over.

Be aware that there is a system-wide lack of ads at the end of each quarter and at the end of every month. So don’t be surprised if your earnings drop off during this time.

You can earn 10% on referrals for as long as you are both active on EarnHoney, with no maximum limit.

What is the meaning of the green circles when watching a video?

The green circles signify when your video player is earning extra honey!  Having at least 1 green circle will double or triple your earnings.  All you have to do is to have the video player be in-focus and in-view to get green!

Their website answers this question:  Is there a Limit to the Amount of Videos I Can Watch?
And they say, “No, there is no limit. Watch as many as you like!”

HOWEVER, there is controversy about that on Reddit. You will find a wealth of information on the EarnHoney Subreddit. Check it out daily.

Redditors often complain of “banning spees.” Obeying their policies should present NO problems. If you feel you have been unfairly banned, they have a very responsive CS team. However, please Don’t use any auto-refresh or auto-reload in your internet browser to passively watch videos or to walk away altogether from your computer/tablet/smartphone. This type of shortcut is easily detected and is definitely not in the spirit of EarnHoney and not what EarnHoney was designed for.

Also, Don’t use any unauthorized software, script, bot, or mobile emulator or to try and exploit EH in any way. Cheats and hacks are also easily detected by their compliance systems and can get you permanently banned from continuing to use their site.

Finally, Don’t view EarnHoney through any third party site. Only view videos directly through EarnHoney.com or through your EarnHoney Mobile App without the aid of any unauthorized software. They tell us on their site:  “If you feel your account is ever deactivated in error, we encourage you to write in to us at compliance@EarnHoney.com to ask any questions you have, tell us why you feel you may have been deactivated in error, or to request a new account with a fresh clean start.”
